There have been quite a few recent
events in the Dowsett arm of my family.
My Uncle Jack celebrated his 80th Birthday in October 1996. He had a
party for both family and friends at the British Legion in Newbury, Berks.
As you can see from the picture below, he had a good time. He is sharing
a joke with my cousin, Sue.
Sue is also in the news herself, as she has just become a grandmother.
Her daughter Felicity has just given birth to a son, Jack.
My Mum, Pat, has been celebrating too - she's just had her 70th Birthday
in March 1997. She hosted a party for family and friends on Raven's Ait,
an island in the Thames near Kingston. The only way to the island is via
a private ferry boat, which made for a dramatic entrance! Everyone seemed
to enjoy themselves, despite some problems with the catering. Valerie's
husband, Allan, amused everyone with a magic show - the kids were captivated.
